YOUR GLORY MY GOOD | CHORD CHARTS & LYRICS

THANKS FOR LEADING “Your Glory My Good”!

Inspired By: Psalm 27, Romans 8:28

One of my favorite passages in all of Scripture is Romans 8. The whole chapter is loaded with reminder after reminder of the Lord’s never ending love, his goodness that knows no bounds, and his faithfulness that is sure as the sun.

For instance, read Romans 8:28 — “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”

Now read it again.

It says all things work together for what?

For good.

For who?

For those who love the Lord and have been called by him for his purposes.

Who does that include?

You and me.

What things work together for good?

Every single thing.

What change that would bring to my life if I truly believed this every morning and sought to live it out every day. It would change everything. But if we’re being honest, we know this to be true, but sometimes we struggle to believe these things in the corners of our soul.

David knew this truth full well in Psalm 27 and he believed it. Amidst warfare he reminded himself time and time again —

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life; Whom shall I dread? When evildoers came upon me to devour my flesh, My adversaries and my enemies, they stumbled and fell. Though a host encamp against me, My heart will not fear; Though war arise against me, In spite of this I shall be confident.” -Psalm 27:1-4

David’s protection, his confidence, and his hope were in none but the Lord. The result — he had nothing and no one to fear. Even more so, he declared “my heart would not fear.” If it was for God’s glory, then it was for David’s good.

Does that mean life is easy? Absolutely not. Sometimes for the believer, the exact opposite is actually true, but that does not mean we need to rid ourselves of joy and succumb to despair.

I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; yes, wait for the Lord.” -Psalm 27:13-14

Whether you can see it or not, be reminded today of the Lord’s goodness. Be strong. Let your heart take courage. Wait upon the Lord.

He is working all things together for his glory and your good. All things.

LYRICS:

VERSE 1:
The Lord is my light and my salvation
My heart will not fear
When trouble comes, I won’t be shaken
For I know my God is near

CHORUS:
If it’s for your glory
Then it’s for my good
I know you’re with me
You will not forsake me

If it’s for your glory
Then it’s for my good
If my God is with me
Then what could stand against me

VERSE 2:
No power of hell, no scheme of darkness
Could separate me from your love
So I will trust in your every promise
I will see the goodness of my God

BRIDGE:
There’s no greater love than this
There’s no greater love than this
No greater love than you Jesus
